FUNDRAISING

"Fundraising and support are central to our ability to maintain a vital service four our clients."

We are a local voluntary group which offers services in our community to those in need of help and support. we assist elderly and vulnerable people in north Cardiff who, increasingly, find that they cannot get support elsewhere.

We receive no financial support from any central, statutory or local authority. We rely on donations and sponsorship from individuals and businesses who support the work we do.

BUSINESS SPONSORSHIP

"Our long term future depends on us attracting funds from external sources."

We will continue to make every effort we can to fund-raise but are you part of a business which could also make a contribution towards our costs?

This could be a cash award or perhaps an agreement to sponsor one of our cost headings, for example, provide our stationery, cover our printing costs, help with our insurance charges, or pay for our telephone service upon which we depend. Perhaps your business provides these types of service and you would be willing to provide goods or services at cost.

We would recognise your contribution on this website and also include you on our flyers which are distributed throughout north Cardiff.

You can see below some of the organisations which have supported or continue to support us.

Below you will find links to our “Ways to Donate” page which offer a variety of contributions methods.

INDIVIDUAL GIVING

Would you be able to make a regular or once-off donation to support our work? Below you will find links to our “Ways to Donate” page which offer a variety of contribution methods.

LOCAL FUNDRAISING

To raise much-needed funds, we organise our own fund-raising events, and a number of local organisations also arrange their own fund-raising in support of our work. Look out for planned events and news. Past events have included Spring and Autumn Fayres, Musical Evenings and Fashion Shows.

Due to the pandemic restrictions, we had to cut back on this type of funding in 2020 although we were able to start again in 2023.

March 2024

GNINC Volunteer Linda O’Reilly and friends ran an Easter Craft Fayre at the Rhydepennau Hub and raised an astounding £159 for Good Neighbours - what a fantastic effort. We are very grateful to Rhydepennau Hub for use of their rooms.

December 2023

Our Christmas Concert took place at Llanishen Rugby Club. This event provided a festive outing for clients but also raised over £1,100. We are very grateful to Llanishen Rugby Club who offered us their facilities at very short notice when the venue we had booked became unavailable.

September 2023

We held a Client Tea Party  at Christ the King Church Hall. While this was primarily a social event than a fundraiser, we still raised £120.

Our thanks go to all our sponsors for the event:

  • Fintan’s Fish Shop

  • Honeybee Cafe

  • Ice Hair Salon

  • Memory Lane Cakes

  • Sainsbury’s Thornhill

  • Tesco

March 2023

We held the Something Wonderful! concert in Beulah Church Rhiwbina which was attended by approximately 100 people and raised £1400. Many thanks to the performers (Soprano Alwyn Mellor, accompanied by Michael Pollock) and all those who supported this event.

Would you be willing to help us with our own fund-raising, or would a group or business to which you belong be willing to do some fund-raising for us?  If so, do call the office or send us an email

CLIENT DONATIONS

We do not make a charge for our services, although clients are invited to make a donation in recognition of the service provided. No records are kept of individual donations.

CHARITABLE GRANTS

March 2024

Good Neighbours in North Cardiff (GNINC) has been awarded a significant grant to develop our services and expand into Rhiwbina. The Volunteering Wales grant funded by Welsh Government and administered by WCVA is specifically designed to support charities like ours who rely on volunteers to deliver a service which supports people to remain in their own home for as long as possible.

This grant will allow us to recruit more volunteers and to take on new requests for service from people who live in Rhiwbina. It will also help us modernise how we engage with volunteers and provide training and support to them.

March 2023 Our thanks to Tesco for their donation of £50 from their Community Grant Scheme. We realise that they receive a huge number of applications and are very pleased to have been awarded a donation. Every little really does help!

March 2023

We have received financial support from a variety of sources during the past year, and should like to thank the Moondance Foundation, Amazon Smile, the Foyle Foundation, the People’s Lottery, and the Lloyds Foundation for their generosity. Such grants and donations enable us to continue our 42-year service to our local community, and we are very grateful.

June 2022: We are very grateful to the Moondance Foundation for their continued support. Following on from their grant in March 2021, their help this year has been especially welcome as our usual methods of fundraising have been unavailable over the last two years.

October 2020: We are very grateful to the Rotary Club of Cardiff Llanishen, which has given us the splendid sum of £1,183.  This was raised by means of a 7-day Exercise Challenge, where people were encouraged to take some form of exercise for 7 days, and ask for sponsorship from friends and family. During lockdown, this was clearly a win-win situation for the participants and Good Neighbours!

October 2020: National Lottery Donation - An application to the National Lottery Community Fund was made, asking for funding to cover one year's rent of our office premises.  We are pleased to announce that we were successful, and thank the National Lottery for their generous grant.
